Power of Election
Commission—The Election Commission has got power and jurisdiction to
organise, hold and conduct election and it is also its duty to see that
election is held i fair and honest manner. But this power is to be exercised
subject to the election Rules.

Rule—27

Power of Election
Commission— Where there are contradictory reports and materials before the
Election Commission about adournments of the poll and submission of result by
the Presiding Officer, the Election Commission has the power either to direct
repoll or to direct acceptance of the result. This power has been vested in the
Election Commission under Rule 27 and there is no question of exercise of the
planery power by the Election Commission in such a situation.
