Political leaders do not care about the rules and regulation, law so government should take effective action to change the situation.- Explain & Illustrate.

Introduction:

Politics contains an important role in our daily life. We thought about politics for our own sake, because political leader or the government we elected would help us to change our life. Many parties form the government to give the promise about change. In 1930, Hitler rise to the power by promising change, in 2008, Sheikh Hasina became prime minister by promising change; Barack Obama became the president of United States by promising the change. After they become head of the government they can not be able to keep their promises. Hitler leads Europe to the greatest blood feud of all time “World War ii”, Obama can not recover the America from financial crisis and Hasina does not able to keep the product price low and stability of life. Most of the cases the Government did not achieve success because of the political leaders. Many political leaders do not care about the rules, regulation and law. So, many attempts to control the situation go in vain.

Political leader is one of the basic factors who create corruption. We can say that, abusing the public power, money, resources by government official for personal gain is known as corruption or political corruption.[1] But the scenario is began to change many country create anti-corruption commission so the corruption rate is come down and the society became the corruption free society. This commission also helps us to detect the corrupt person so the government can punish them and that will brought down the corruption level and society became the corruption free.

We thought, United States, United Kingdom, India, and many other developed countries are corruption free but the point is every country in this world is corrupt, either it is high or low, but corrupt. United States is 22nd in Transparency International Index. In regional rank India is 16th whose overall rank is 87th and the regional rank of Bangladesh is 25th and the overall rank is 134th, the rank of United Kingdom is 12th and the overall rank is 20th. The least corrupted country is Denmark which is ranked in number 1. But we cannot say that, Denmark is corruption free.[2]

Now we take a quick observe some corruption case of United States, United Kingdom, India and Bangladesh. We also look the necessary measure the countries take to prevent corruption, the anti-corruption law and how they implement the law. We also look at the world wide view to prevent the corruption.

The Corruption in Many Countries:

United Kingdom is one of the developed countries of the world. As we know, in this world every country is corrupt; United Kingdom is no more different from other country. If we take a closure look in the United Kingdom, then we find the corruption that happens in United Kingdom. In September 1998, Mick Collins Jailed for eight months for expenses fraud involving Doncaster council totalling £2,000. He denied stealing nearly £2,000 from his local Labour party branch. The judge ruled these charges were not to be proceeded with, but ordered compensation to be paid to the party branch. In July 2000, Malcolm Glover Sentenced to three months suspended for a year on each of three charges, to run concurrently and ordered to pay £1,000 costs. On three occasions he had falsely claimed a total of £177.50. Two of the charges related to claiming first class rail fare when he had traveled standard, and the third related to a mileage claim for a 450-mile round trip when he had actually traveled in a company representative’s car.[3]

We know the terms whistle blower, whistle blower is the person whose duty is to blow the whistle or alert the authority if there is any wrong thing is happen. But surprisingly, in UK this thing not going to work properly Ran Rose a playwright and Labor Party stalwart, applied for a labor councilor in 26th November 1998, asked that, whether she is abide by the party rules but she says that, if party hide corruption she must leak it out, and like many honest person she is not selected for the party.[4]

Due to corruption UKs reputation is falling in trouble. People who believed that abroad people basically UKs people is honest, they face the trouble. Not that, in Transparency International Index, the United Kingdom’s rating is going down. Britain is 16th position in the table, where Ireland, Germany, Norway perform better than United Kingdom. This is the worst performance is seen by Britain since 1995, when the Transparency International began to rate the countries according to the corruption and declare which country is most corrupt and which is least corrupt.[5]

Not only UK, recently we find much news about corruption. The most recent is India’s Telecom Industry’s corruption news. The India’s telecom minister accused to take around 20 crore rupee (Indian Currency). India’s minister for Communication and IT, A. Raja resigned due to the allegation of that he sold license of 2G in 2008 in some local company for money.[6]

But this is not end, to prevent corruption every countries in this world decide take an anti corruption law which help those countries to prevent the corruption. If those countries implement the law properly it would help to eradicate the corruption from the face of the earth.

Anti Corruption Law:

The anti corruption laws is the law, which is use is for prevent the corruption. Every one hopes that, by the proper implementation of law people would eradicate the corruption from the face of the earth. Even less developed countries in the world got an anti corruption laws so the people the country live happily. In Hong Kong the anti bribery law indicate that, bribery for giving assistance, bribery for giving withdrawal of tenders, the penalty is $500000 and imprisonment for 10 years.[7]

Countries not only create the anti corruption law and implement them, but also corruption free people, the people who suffer in corruption raise a voice against corruption that’s how the organization like Transparency International is born. Recently America pass a law named Dodd-Frank Act which indicate that, employees, former employees, and other individuals who report corporate bribery or other wrongdoing (who are called “whistleblowers”) will receive at least 10% and up to 30% of any fine paid by the company as a result of its corporate bribery or other wrongdoing. In America named the Anti-Corruption Alliance (ACA) which was formed due to implement the Dodd-Frank Act, promote the reporting by employees of corporate bribery and other wrong doing, and make sure that those who report corruption receives the financial rewards.[8]

In Bangladesh, we have Durniti Daman Bureue ( The Burueo of Anti-Corruption), whose main duty is to detect the corruption in many sectors and prevent them. The government make sure that no one interfered the matter the internal matter, to make sure of that it is the independent section of the organization, that is pretty rare in the country like Bangladesh.

Conclusion:

The matter is clear like a day light; that every country in this world is corrupt, people who believe in good things does not lose hope. They create revolution; they raise their voice against corruption, by listen the voice of those people government pass the Anti-Corruption law, form a different type organization who work independently to prevent the corruption. By implementing the law properly corruption can be removed from the face of the earth.
