1.1 COMPANY OVERVIEW:

Prisma Digital is duly incorporated under the Companies Act of 1994 and registered with the Joint Stock Companies. Established in 1991, it is fully licensed to operate cable television in Bangladesh and is a master distributor of high quality satellite and cable TV services.

Prisma has built a world class computerized Head-end system that is capable of delivering 90 channels right to your living room.

The image and sound quality is uncompromising in terms of clarity. Channels featured on Prisma, promise top-rated shows from around the world, 24 hours a day.

At present Prisma is expanding its area of coverage and upgrading the existing network to provide internet and other value-added services.

2.1 COMPANY HIGHLIGHT

The Company has signed technical assistance and procurement agreements with world leaders in the cable TV hardware industry, such as Scientific Atlanta (USA), BARCO (Belgium), ARRIS (Ireland), ALPHA (USA) and COMMSCOPE (USA). Most of the equipment is already utilized.

PDL is finalizing a contract with ARRIS Systems, world leaders in hardware internet technology, to procure internet related equipment.

Internet equipment installed with the HFC cable network will enable PDL to provide internet service, data transmission, e-commerce and broad band contents to its customer.

Internet access of Prisma creates a synergy with the existing HFC cable network and provides Prisma with technical supremacy in terms of comparatively faster download and upload of information on the Internet. Other ISP’s on the other hand, rely on slow telephone network.

Prisma is negotiating with technology companies in Bangalore, India, to develop software for export and content for the worldwide web and the internet. This will enable Prisma to take advantage of its existing HFC cable network and the Internet access service.

The main mission of Prisma is to Provide Direct-to-Home cable TV service by laying HFC cable network all around Dhaka city.

Provide high speed internet service, data transmission, e-commerce and other broad band contents through their own HFC network to homes and businesses.

Produce content for the internet and the worldwide web, to develop software for export.

Our vision is to be a market leader in cable TV, internet, data entry and software sector i e. to become IT leader in Bangladesh.

2.3 Network Spread and Penetration:

The company’s HFC network spreads over an approximate area of 20 square kms with 100kms of Fiber Optic Cable and 200 kms of 500 series co-axial cables, catered to by 34 optical nodes. Over the last five years, the company has achieved significant market coverage in Dhaka City with the 10 cable operator affiliates.

Prisma is based in Gulshan, Dhaka, from where it coordinates and provides direct cable TV Service throughout Gulshan, Banani, Baridhara, Mahakhali DOHS, Banani DOHS and adjacent areas. It also provides franchise services to Nikunja, Mohakhali, Niketan, Monipur, Kalabagan, Dhanmondi, Baidhara DOHS, Uttra and surrounding areas. Recently company is expanding it’s network all over Dhaka city.

In 1995-96, Prisma Satellite System decided to enter the Cable TV market and create the difference it made in back 1991 which required a lot of planning, coordination, and training from abroad.

Finally in mid 1998, PSS launched the first 100% addressable 750 MHz. Hybrid Fiber Optic Coaxial Network in South Asia. During that time Prisma Satellite Systems changed it name to PRISMA DIGITAL to match with the network it was building and at the same time use PRISMA?s goodwill in the market.

It was all about Perfection, in a less than perfect city. We believed in perfection, for the Product & the Service.

3.4 Installations:

Installation requires subscriber’s presence. Installations are conducted Saturday through Thursday. For your convenience, we offer morning and afternoon appointments. But some times we also install cable TV and Internet FRIDAY!

Morning appointments can be scheduled from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm. Afternoon appointments can be made for between 2:00 pm to 5:00 pm.

5. Installer/Technician Department, (Network Engineering):

JOB SUMMARY: Under moderate supervision, performs a variety of duties pertaining to cable television installation and service. Responsible for installation paperwork and maintenance of assigned vehicle and tools; troubleshoot service problems.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS: Experience in installation, building, wiring, or construction and customer service preferred.

6. Service Technician Department, (Network Engineering):

JOB SUMMARY: Performs field technical work and responds to customer complaints. Responsibilities include daily organization of service calls, customer relations, problem solving, and documentation. Perform installs, disconnects, reconnects installation of additional outlets, and relocations.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS: One to two years work experience in installation, building, wiring, or construction. Customer service experience or aptitude required.

7. Area Technician Department, (Network Engineering):

JOB SUMMARY: Responsible for directing the work activities of all field personnel as instructed by supervisor, for technical training in installation and field maintenance, and for all of proper plant maintenance and operation.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS: Must have two to five years experience as a technician. Previous supervisory experience or training desirable.

8. Customer Service Representative – Network Control Center

Department: Administration

JOB SUMMARY: Primary liaison between local customers and Prisma Network Control Center –handles all customer contacts received at the local office by telephone, in writing, and in person. In addition, performs a variety of clerical duties of a routine and recurring nature, including typing, filing, customer payment processing, collections, cash handling, sales, phone, and preparation of standard forms.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS: Keyboard experience desirable. Customer service experience required.

Prisma digital Limited has not yet started its working area in IP Phone service, the company strategically in weak position than the competitors of Prisma digital limited.

The net Working capital growth of Prisma digital Limited is showing a positive trend over the years that reflects good liquidity position of the company.

In 2009 it can find that Prisma digital Limited is using its assets more efficiently to generate sales than the other leading competitors.

Prisma digital Limited suffered negative growth in one or more years but it could overcome the situation by making a significant growth in the following year. In 2002 Prisma digital Limited had a growth of 55.75%.

Prisma digital Limited is adopting dividend policy according to its internal decisions and profitability which has a reflection in their year by year Dividend Payout Ratio figures.

Prisma digital Limited leads in comparison to other companies by more than 3.65 days.
