Make-up

As our skin needs to breathe properly in summer, we can bring into play light makeup for regular use. Try to skip foundation with a heavy base, if you want to apply foundation, matt will give an excellent result in the daylight. With the non-oily base you may get a natural, soft, sophisticated but gorgeous skin. Usually the t- zone of the face gets oily; you can apply translucent powder on this. Or you can try mineral make-up. Coordinated very light colored lipstick, eye-shadow, blush on, a thin line of brown/dark-brown eye liner, may be mascara also, now it’s glowing enough! But remember never forget to put on sunscreen while going outside between 10am to 4 pm. Here is a sequence how to prepare for an evening party:-

Before applying make-up you may need:

  1. Your clothing, matching sandal, purse, jewelers, etc.
  2. You may require concealer, foundation, loose or compact powder, blusher, eye-shadow, mascara, eye liner, kohl, lipstick, lip gloss, eyelash curler, pencil sharpener, facial tissues, etc.
  3. For preparing the skin, cleanser, toner & moisturizer.
  4. Sponge or different types of brush.
  5. Water spray bottle.

First of all, wash your hands with anti-bacterial soap. Cleanse, after cleansing, you can use a face pack to prepare your skin.

  • If normal skin, take one table spoon of honey, one egg yolk, one tea spoon of olive. Use the pack and wash off after 15 minutes.
  • If rough & dry, use mayonnaise & rinse off after 20 minutes.
  • If oily, take a half of a ripe tomato and fuller’s earth (Multani Matti), mix them well, and apply over skin. Rub until it dries, then wash off with warm water.
  • Or if it is combination, smash a half of a ripe banana with 2 table spoon of curd & one table spoon of honey. Apply the pack; wash off after 15-20 minutes.

Now tone & moisturize according to your skin type. This is important whenever you will be going outside, especially around the middle of the day, even if it is cold or rainy, apply sunscreen.

Cold compress your skin before applying moisturizer and wait for 10-15 minutes before make-up. If you want to drape saree, wear blouse and petty-coat before starting make-up. Sit in front of a highly magnifying mirror with sufficient lighting. Your concealer should be one or two lighter than the foundation. Use concealer beside the eyes, on the eye lid & on dark areas with the fingers or make-up brush. Take the foundation which goes with your skin tone & apply with fingers or sponge.

For powder application, take large, wide & round brush. Spray water, dab with facial tissue and set the foundation with sponge.

Art your eye-brow with triangle shaped brush.

Choose eye shadow. For evening parties, take two or three shades of colors of eye shadow. Using a fine, blunt-ended brush, gently apply the base color to the entire lid from the inside to the outside comer and from the base of the lashes to the eyelid crease

If the eyes need extra definition, a deeper shade is blended into the crease line. This gives depth to the eyes. The brow bone is highlighted with a light shade. This gives the eyes a wide, open look., The cooler is applied to the most prominent area and blended up towards the brow and down to’ where the contour curves down, toward the eyelid creases Use a cosmetic puff and a little pressed powder to tone down heavy shadow. Shake any excess powder off the puff, and then press it gently on your lid. Blend properly, so that it does not make any partition of colors.

To apply eye-liner, gently pull the lid taut and with a steady elbow placed on the counter for balance, draw an even line as close the lashes as possible. For the under eye area, reverse your chin and tuck it as close to your neck as possible. Then look the eyes up and place a lighter line along the outer edge of the eye rim as close to the lashes as possible. Some may also desire to line the inner rims of the eyes. Open your mouth when applying your liner to keep your eyes from blinking.

Use an eyelash curler Curling lashes gives eyes the appearance of being wider and brighter. Shoot warm air from your blow dryer on the mascara curler for 3-5 seconds to warm it up before curling lashes. Touch it first to make sure it’s not too hot. It’s a myth that you have to curl lashes before you apply mascara. You can curl lashes after mascara application; just make sure the mascara is dry first. Wiggle the wand of the mascara left to right at the base of lashes. It’s the mascara placed near the roots — not the tips — that gives the illusion of length. Pull the wand up and through lashes, wiggling as you go. The wiggling part is the key. Wiggling separates lashes. In this final step, close the eye and place the mascara wand on top of lashes at the base and pull through to remove any clumps.

Now it is time for blusher; Dab blush on your brush and tap off any excess. Smile into the mirror and see where the apple of your cheek is. Keep the color of your blush light and blended. It is also good to dab it on with your middle finger, then blend with your ring and middle fingers. Experts say that the cleaner finger picks up any excess blush. If you think you’ve used excess powder blush, cover it with a little translucent powder or if you’ve used cream blush, blot it off with a tissue. Remember that gel and liquid blush ‘stain’ the cheeks, so lighten it by washing your face, then moisturize and reapply your makeup. But this time use very little makeup. Now, add a layer of translucent powder. Apply lip liner (lip pencil) all around your lips including the corners. Apply lipstick. Put a tissue paper between your lips and press it with your lip to absorb extra lipstick. Reapply lipstick. With the mouth closed, put a tissue on the lip and lightly press against them to set the lipstick so it last longer. You may put on your gloss after that.
