True beauty does not mean only physical appearance; it is also the beauty that lies inside a human being- illustrate & explain.

Introduction

Human beings are made with different characteristic and physical diversification with the same basic shape. No two human are same in nature or characters. We all look different and behave differently. We have a tendency to judge people through their appearance, right after seeing anyone we adopt a brief understanding on the person can be. Our behavior towards them as well changes according to looking and appearance. But the appearance doesn’t indicate how a person might be in nature. There has been a century wise argument of judging people by appearance or by the people might be from inside. Many consider that true beauty does not mean only physical appearance; it is also the beauty of inside of a human being. Many consider the true beauty is the beauty of inside and from there many proverb has been made, one of them is “Beauty is skin Deep”. It indicates the people can be said beautiful only when they are beautiful from inside, physical beauty is superficial.

What Does the Phrase “Beauty is skin deep” Mean? The phrase refers to the fact that one can be beautiful on the outside and mean or unpleasant on the inside. One can be beautiful from outside. And other can be beautiful on the inside. They are considered as very lovely persons. It means that true beauty does not mean only physical appearance; it is also the beauty of inside of a human being. Just like an old ragged edged book within that book you keep turning the pages to reveal the treasures of knowledge, foresight and the same goes for people. It’s what is within the person that counts, not whether they appear odd, poor, of a different race, don’t fit in, etc. If you judge one too quickly you could miss out on a good friendship or a great mate. One should not be judged by only his appearance he must be known from inside. A person can only be true beautiful when he or she is beautiful from inside. Only then he will be considered truly beautiful and loved by all. However, when we refer to something beautiful we are usually referring to that something’s outward appearance. The outward appearance of a person counts for nothing, but it is what lies beneath the skin, the actual person him/herself is what really matters. The underlying message of this saying is completely true as one shouldn’t care about what a person looks like because it’s only the outside. Personality is the only thing that should matter while judging a person’s beauty. Not how they look like as appearances can be deceptive.

Judging Anyone and Anything Now a day people’s instant perception about beauty is only the appearance of a person. Whenever we talked about beauty people consider we are talking about the appearance of a person. When the same person becomes very conscious when it comes to serious relation, they try to look again the same person they consider beautiful, now they judge them from inside. So whenever there comes a question about a serious relation people look for the inner beauty. This actually proves the proverb again that outer beauty or physical beauty is superficial and the real beauty is hidden inside. Egoism is a concept by Plato, which indicates that if any person, thinks only about his own desire he can lead a good life. Judging anyone by Inner or outer appearance must involve an ultimate, misjudging anyone may never lead to good consequence for him in the long run. Less aged people consider and mostly understand the beauty as the appearance, how a person looks makes him beautiful or handsome or the opposite. They usually draw a quick conclusion about the person. Mostly aged person think that beauty is inner matter, it actually is a determinant that how a person is from inside. These groups don’t consider the appearance to count ones beauty. This type of perception might come from their experienced life, as they are more experienced than the younger and experienced many incidents regarding the beauty matter. The less aged person considers the inner beauty when it comes to a serious relation. They weighted both inner beauty and appearance while going in serious relation. The relation of friends, marriage, love, business partner, etc can be considered a serious long term relation. These types of long term relations require some goodness from inside rather than being beautiful or handsome from outside. This is common on both aged people and they become very conscious about the inner beauty on this serious long term relation.A different situation and opinion arises when we consider the beauty of and object. This situation arises when we buy exchange or do any type of dealing with these objects. In this situation the inner beauty or appearance depends on what I am buying and the intention. Usually the luxurious product needs to be appealing and exclusive in appearance. They usually don’t require that kind of feature ability, like cars, dress or show off goods. While buying an exclusive dress we think only how it will look, not concentrating more with what kind of cloth it is made of, but when we buy the cloth for our child we do care about the material. But with the daily necessity product we only go with the feature or the objective fulfillment issue. For an example when we buy foods we think about the quality not by how it looks, but when we buy a birthday cake the looks matters. So, it depends on what is our intention of buying the product. The rational analysis between Inner beauty and Outer appearance When Inner Beauty is Preferred It is said that that beautiful people actually are nicer and friendlier. The argument goes as follows. It should be admitted that we subconsciously assign positive characteristics such as intelligence and friendliness to beautiful people. Studies confirm this assumption. We then treat these people nicer than we treat others. Studies confirm this as well. The improvable hypothesis is that beautiful people are beautiful on the inside as well. The matter of fact is that from childhood when a beautiful person is treated very nicely they also develop to treat people back as they are being treated. So they may become friendlier and nicer than less beautiful people. Thus beautiful looking people become truly beautiful people by way of a self-fulfilling prophecy. Utilitarian Judging oneself with only outer appearance always may never result well for anyone in the society. The good person may be deprived by many things if he is misjudged. This will never result the greater welfare for the society according to utilitarian theory. The experience with beautiful people being nice can be a psychological phenomenon known as association that similar looking (and therefore also beautiful) people will also be nice. We in turn treat them nicer and they treat us nicely in return further developing their own good character. The phrase “beauty is only skin deep” is presumptive, misleading and a patently false statement. It presumes, first of all, that everyone accepts the standard definition of beauty, i.e., a person whose physical appearance would be appealing to a majority of people. That majority would first have to agree on a definition of beauty. It also negates the concept that beauty comes from within. True beauty goes much deeper than skin. But, the essence is that, if you perceive that a person’s features are arranged in a way that is pleasing to you, take it for what it is – a pleasant looking face. In our society there is only one criterion for judging beauty and that is a physical criteria since ‘beauty’ is a physical characteristic. The qualities we use to determine ‘inner beauty’ are not physical qualities and therefore the phrase ‘inner beauty’ becomes a contradiction in terms. The definition of beauty is subjective but, no matter how one defines it, beauty can only be skin deep. One can only be seen as being physically beautiful. The more important characteristics that indicate a person’s moral core or system of values are not physical characteristics and so they cannot make a person beautiful. Physical beauty can hide a cold heart and a flawed character. Physical beauty fades with age, but a warm heart and generous nature last a lifetime. External attractiveness has no relation to goodness or essential quality. So, the real eternal person is a soul, a spirit. The body is only a vehicle for the soul to dwell in for a time. A very gorgeous body may hide a very awful person. Actions speak louder than words. Why we should consider the inner beauty This saying is generally used regarding other people one may meet throughout their life. • People who act odd and withdrawn may be shy and awkward.• People who are angry may have been very hurt in the past and are mistrustful of others.• If a person doesn’t wear modern clothes and is clean, but doesn’t quite fit in this may mean they have had financial problems and are having a rough go of it.• If a person is quiet and says little this does not mean they are not computing what is going on around them. They may be highly intelligent and with some prodding a lot of fun.• Loud people who have to be the center of attention are either very confident or relaxed people or, they are masking hurt or worries within themselves.• A young person with tattoos all over their body is not a freak, but considers it art. Tattoos don’t change the personality of the person.• A person that pierces their body may look frightening depending on how many piercings they have, but generally they are great people with a great sense of humor and a free spirit.• Someone that dresses differently because of their race and cultural background.• Those who boast of intelligence and have to remind everyone of it all the time generally feel they lack intelligence and need that pat on the back to feel reassured. When outer Appearance is preferred In many situations outer appearance may be preferred. While buying a luxurious product otter appearance may play an important role. Anything which is used for a very short period might need a good appearance, it actually don’t make any difference as we are not using or being with for a longer period of time. Like cars, dress or show off goods. While buying an exclusive dress we think only how it will look, not concentrating more with what kind of cloth it is made of, but when we buy the cloth for our child we do care about the material. In short time relation like making boyfriend or girlfriend or doing things for fun doesn’t really require any inner beauty. But for a long time relation inner beauty gets the preference. In some cases both inner and outer beauty works together both the beauty are needed. Even in serious relation like marriage and love appearance really matters. Even while buying a product like high involvement costly product needs to be look good from outside. Like buying a car, house, interior, cloth, etc. When we buy a car the looks plays vital role in decision making. So here the outer appearance is very important and gets preferred. So, the proverb Beauty is skin deep does not work in every situation. Preference changes regarding situation, objective and need of a person.

Inner Beauty Versus Outer appearance Beauty is a term that defines the level of attractiveness of a particular object, being or aspect. We humans are constituted by mainly three “realms” that combined form the complete person: physical, emotions and spirituality. Physical appearance of humans is what we call “external appearance”, while spirituality is a form of “internal appearance”. Since emotions are based mostly by genetics and what we learn, emotions are a kind of “hybrid” between external and internal appearance.Ethic of duties Humans are described generally in terms of looks by being either beautiful. Attractive people tend to have a higher level of relativity, because some people may find “less attractive” what others consider attractive. In the case of unattractive people, others can look at other aspects of an unattractive person that may “suppress” that physical appearance of the person. A person may not be physically attractive, but may be a very courteous, nice and smart, so that person may have an advantage over those who are attractive but not as nice or courteous. In other words, that unattractive person will have a high value depending on their inside appearance. Unfortunately, the inside appearance of an attractive person is of lesser importance in general- they will always stand up by their physical appearance first. In some cases, if the attractive person is also attractive on the inside, it will be praised. An ugly person (or unattractive) is not looked at by their looks but at their abilities, mind, and “inner” attributes like being courteous, nice, hard-working and confident. There is no “outside” attributes that works as an obstacle to look at what really matters. After all, as people age, all of us lose physical attractiveness and end up focusing on the beauty that does not pass away- the inner beauty. It is very, highly important that people learn to focus more on their inner beauty, by being nicer, happier, smarter, more grateful, and develop a high self-esteem. It is not that is bad to take care of the physical appearance and it promotes a better health, but to only focus on it and abandon to take care of the inner beauty, which gives space to arrogance, bitterness and frequent anger and negative aspects to grow within the person, is a very big mistake that is projecting now. A religion or a form of faith helps a lot in developing a high self-esteem and aids to keep the inner beauty healthy. People have different codes of moral behaviors. It is very helpful to learn to know the limits in terms of respecting others and keep honor. With the good behavior one represents his religion, society and family. With pleasant appearance coming from inside also represents ones faith on God.While most standards consider the attitude or mood of a person based on their inner or inside appearance, attitude can be considered part of outer beauty because it “adds” to or “subtracts” from the physical appearance of the person, and is a way to know more about the inside attributes of that particular person. The attitude of a person can take a strong part on opportunities for people who are generally looked at by their physical appearance first, although it is also of high value for those who are not physically attractive.

Judging by Beauty is also a Violation of Human Rights Evolutionary scientists suggests that evolution and Darwinian survival of the fittest shows strong possibility that aesthetics play an important role in selection, and therefore a sense of beauty has emerged through the process of natural selection over time from the beginning. Any departure from the ‘ideal’ type, however trivial, becomes a defining aspect of that human and often May leas the individual to be recognized negatively, or not at all. Therefore, the issue of normality or even physical beauty becomes an issue of equality and justice. Primarily there is the notion enshrined in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, The French Declaration and American Declaration that all humans are born free and equal. Whilst it impossible to find a universal definition of what makes a human physically beautiful perhaps part of their beauty is that it is indefinable, but for the sake of this essay physical ‘beauty’ is taken to be accepted anything overtly aesthetically pleasing, it is widely accepted that some humans are more aesthetically pleasing that others. The ideal of beauty are not timeless and change from Rubens voluptuous female figures to the twenty first century size zero craze; from classical art to more controversial modern pieces the human appreciation of beauty does not falter. However not every woman is beautiful enough, as Helen of Troy is claimed to have been, to have war made over her. Furthermore, if we look in the history and in keeping with the historical Vienna Declaration about the’dignity and worth inherent in human being, it would seem that the appreciation of the presence of beauty and the desire for beautiful equality ties in with the ideas about human dignity. However, whilst in theory all humans may have the right to beauty; this does not address in practice the underlying tensions between the presence of beauty and the right to equality.

Conclusion

The recognition of man within a social group is dependent upon others humans; usually based upon whether the individual resembles what is taken to be a human. Therefore, increasingly in the twenty first century the individual or group may protect their human rights by making sure that the society and the international community recognizes their individual humanity by finding something beautiful. The real eternal person is a soul, a spirit. The body is only a vehicle for the soul to dwell in for a time. A very gorgeous body may hide a very awful person. Actions speak louder than words. The underlying message of this saying is completely true as one shouldn’t care about what a person looks like because it’s only the outside. Personality is the only thing that should matter while judging a person’s beauty. Not how they look like as appearances can be deceptive. But it widely varies in person to person and situation. For goods the intention behind the buying of goods varies as the inner and outer beauty preference varies as well. In the long run inner beauty is the most important thing to look at.
